Miss Martha Seeley is Married To Mr. Allen Birdwell on Sunday
The Jerome Methodist church was the setting for the wedding Sunday of Miss Martha Seeley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thad Seeley, of Jerome, and Mr. Allen Lemuel Birdwell Jr. of Mineral Wells, Texas. The double ring ceremony was read in open church at 3:30 p.m.
Preceding the service a program of nuptial music was presented by Mrs. James Dasher, (Jocye Foster), accompanist, and Mrs. James R. McKitrick, vocalist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in traditional white slipper satin, fashioned with train. Her veil of illusion was fingertip length, and she carried a white Bible, topped with a white floral arrangement.
Attending the bride were her sister-in-law, Mrs. Thad Seeley Jr., as matron of honor, and Mrs. Wesley Hunter, of Newark, a college class mate, was bride’s-maid. Mrs. Seeley was in peach taffeta, and Mrs. Hunter wore an aqua gown. Both had colonial bouquets of matching flowers.
Serving the groom as best man was Mr. Wesley Hunter, and guests were seated by Mr. Thad Seeley Jr. and Mr. James R. McKitrick.
For her daughter’s wedding and reception which followed at the bride’s home, Mrs. Seeley Sr. chose a rose sheer gown, with matching hat and accessories. Her corsage was pink roses.
When Mr. and Mrs. Birdwell left for a wedding trip in the east, the bride changed to a rose colored suit and hat, with white accessories. They will reside in Newark where Mr. Birdwell is chemist for the Pure Oil Co.
Mrs. Birdwell is a graduate of Jerome high school and Ohio State University, and has been employed as first grade teacher in the East building of this city for the past six years.
Among the out-of-town guests present were the groom’s father, Mr. A.L. Birdwell Sr. and sister, Miss Janet Birdwell, of Mineral Wells, Texas, who made the trip by plane.
Those from Marysville who attended the wedding and reception included: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cody, Mr. and Mrs. Lea Scheiderer, Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Carr, Miss Josephine Cody, Miss Helen Wood, Miss Mary Sweeney and Miss Lulu Morse.
