Pictured above are Alice Mathes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Mathes of 720 South Harlan street, and Kent Seely, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Seely of Algona, who were married Thursday evening, Sept. 10, in the First Presbyterian church. Rev. Myron H. Brower performed the double-ring ceremony before a large group of friends and relatives.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white Chantilly-type lace and nylon tulle over taffeta. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a Juliet cap of lace, trimmed with pearls. She carried a Colonial bouquet of white and shrimp-colored roses, and wore a single strand of pearl, gift of the groom. She was attended by Mrs. Harlan Haas, who wore a waltz-length gown of bronze tulle over shrimp-colored taffeta, and carried a Colonial bouquet of fall mums.

Halan Haas served as best man and ushers were Richard Mathes and James Dodds. Mrs. Walter Plumb presided at the organ and accompanied the soloist, Bettyanne Perkins.

A reception for 200 guest was held in the church basement following the ceremony with Mrs. Cidney Laird and Mrs. Kermit Setchell of Eldora pouring. Table waitresses were Helen Elsbecker, Mrs. Dick McGinnis and Marcia Setchell of Eldora. Claudette Seely assisted with the gifts, and Mrs. Jime Kelly had charge of the guest book.

Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Kermit Setchell and Marcia of Eldora; Mr. and Mrs. Howard French of Titonka; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert French of Rossie; Kenneth Seely of Vinton; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bleckwenn and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Greinert of Fenton; and Mr. and Mrs. John Kroll of Long Prairie, Minn.

Alice is a graduate of the Algona high school, and was formerly employed by the Security State Bank. Kent, who graduated from the Algona high school in 1949, is in the United States army, stationed at Fort McCarthy, California, where the young couple will make their home.
