Seely-Learn Nuptials Solemnized at Cuba

CUBA – A wedding of interest occurred this morning at ten forty-five o’clock this morning at Our Lady of Angels Church Rectory when Miss Barbara Seely, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Floyd Seely, became the bride of Nelson Peter Learn, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nelson P. Learn, at a ceremony performed by the Rev. T.C. Fernan of Friendship.

Mrs. Gilbert Goodgion of Elmhurst, Long Island, was the bride’s matron of honor, while her sister, Miss Ann Marie Seely, Cuba, was her maid of honor. Howard Rinker, Cuba, acted as best man.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a Milgrim summer suit, her blouse being fashioned of heirloom lace. With this she selected a black Cloche hat and Kelly green accessories. She carried white orchids. Mrs. Goodgion chose a beige frock with luggage accessories. Her corsage was of orchids. Miss Seely wore a beige frock with navy blue accessories, and a corsage of orchids.

Wedding Breakfast Served

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to forty guests at the Hotel Kinney. The bridal table was centered with a six tiered cake decorated with bouvardia, sweetheart roses and baby’s breathe, topped with a miniature bride and groom and flanked by white tapers on a damask cloth. Rose bowls centered the other tables and garden flowers adorned the mantle. Favors and place cards were of silver sea shells.

Mrs. Learn attended Pratt Institute, Brooklyn.

After a motor trip through Western New York. Mr. and Mrs. Learn will be at home at the Hotel Kinney.

Pre-Nuptial Parties

Prenuptial parties included a kitchen shower by Mrs. Robert Guild and Mrs. William Hunter; variety shower, Mrs. Harold Prentice; and a dinner party at the Chez Ami in Buffalo by the mother of the bride.

Among the out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Keener, Mrs. J. McNamara, Miss Frances, Olean; Mr. and Mrs. R. Holister, Belmont; Mr. and Mrs. A.M. LeMassurier, New York City and Mrs. Gilbert Goodgion, Elmhurst, Long Island.
