MISS SEELEY IS WEDDED AT HEUVELTON

Heuvelton – The marriage of Miss Alice June Seeley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leland Seeley of Heuvelton, to Clarence Backus Jr., of Syracuse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Backus, was performed by the Rev. L.B. Hewitt, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Norfolk and Brookdale at the home of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Matie Reed, Monday, at 12:30 p.m.

Asters, gladioli and cosmos decorated the rooms. The ceremony was performed beneath an arch of evergreen, asters and French marigolds.

Two sisters, Patricia and Leah Seeley, attended the bride. Nathan Merrifield was best man and Lawrence Seeley usher.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, John Seeley, wore a gown of white satin, with deep lace yoke, long net veil with white cornet to hold the veil. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli and gypsophilia.

Miss Patricia Seeley was gowned in Alice blue lace with matching finger tip net veil and carried salmon colored gladioli.

Miss Leah Seeley wore a dress of rose pink silk with matching finger tip net veil and carried pink tipped asters. Mrs. Matie Reed, the grandmother, wore and black and white printed silk.

Mrs. R.B. Hewitt presided at the organ playing the processional by Wagner and the recessional from Mendelssohn. Mrs. Emma M. Cheney sang, “Oh Promise Me.”

Immediately following the ceremony a wedding luncheon attended by 35 guests was served.

The bride’s cake graced the center of the bridal table. It was a white pyramid cake decorated with silver flowers and leaves and the last tier was supported by four columns and was topped by a miniature bride and groom under an arch of white and silver.

The bride’s going away dress was soldier blue with gold neckline. They will motor to Lake Placid for the wedding trip.
