Wilma Betty Coombs

Her children arise up and call her blessed; Proverbs 31:28.

On May 22, 2001 in the late afternoon of a beautiful spring day our blessed mother Wilma Betty Seely Coombs slipped from this earth surrounded by love.

Although her mortal body had been deteriorating for several years her mind remained clear and through her quiet, courageous and dignified example she continued to teach everyone with whom she came in contact how to be patient in adversity. She exhibited a tremendous capacity for love and compassion for everyone she knew.

Wilma was born at Birch Creek near Mt. Pleasant, Utah on April 9, 1925 to Benjamin Frank and Minnie Bell Christensen Seely. On January 24, 1943 she married Andrew LaVoy Coombs in Preston, Idaho. On May 2, 1963 their Marriage was solemnized in the Manti, Utah Temple. Together they had four children.

Loyalty and loving her family was her focus throughout life. All of her posterity will miss her influence, love, and goodness in their lives.

Wilma is survived by children, David (Jill), Betty Miller, Barbara Davidson, and Alan; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Seeley (Faye), Burt Seely (Maxine), Catherine Guymon (Verno), Louise Smith (Lee); stepbrothers, Jay Anderson, Levi Anderson; step sisters, Rae Christensen, JoAnn Dyer and Bea Wright. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepmother Merelda Anderson Seely; brother, Eugene Seely; sister, Bell Seely (who died at childbirth along with her mother) and son in law Jim Miller.

Many thoughtful people have participated in her care, but gratitude and recognition are due her sister Catherine Guymon who has a tender heart and loving spirit and especially to her loving daughter Betty Miller who has exemplified the love and compassion that her mother instilled in her by providing for mother’s full time care for several years.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2001, 11 am, McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where viewing will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Fountain Green Cemetery.
