Virginia Beth Hathaway, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Ashton Living Center at the age of 96. She was a longtime resident of St. Anthony, where she and her husband, S.J. Hathaway, raised their family.

Beth was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Joseph Hyrum and Blodwen Williams Seeley.
She married Shirley Joseph Hathaway on Aug. 30, 1940, in Chester, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized on June 23, 1942, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Beth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband served as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for many years. She served in many callings in the church, including in a Relief Society presidency, but is best known for her long years spent teaching Sunbeams and Nursery in the Primary.

She worked at many jobs, but mostly as a sales clerk at J C Penney and Carter’s in St. Anthony. Her most important work, however, was her tireless service in raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is much loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Lynn, daughter Marla Mower, a grandson Dane Hathaway, a brother Mont Seeley and a brother-in-law Vic Owens.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Drostan Orme, of the St. Anthony 1st Ward, officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. First N.) in St. Anthony and on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center.
