Thelma Jean Seeley Gaylord
Jean Gaylord was born Thelma Jean Seeley on May 23rd 1929 at her aunt’s home in Penfield, Ohio. She spent her growing years on the family farm in Wellington. She attended the M. B. Johnson school of Nursing in Elyria, Ohio, and graduated on June 30th, 1950 as a Registered Nurse.
She married M. Thomas Gaylord and worked as a Nurse in Labor and Delivery. They settled in New Jersey to start a family where three sons were born, Thomas Douglas, Curtis James and Mark Alan. Following the loss of Curtis (3) to meningitis and a move to Denver, Colorado the twins David Blaine and Donald Brian were born in January 1960. While busy raising 4 boys, Sally Ann arrived as a special surprise in April of 1961, “finally a girl”! Three in diapers at once was a significant challenge, but she tackled it easily. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1964 and after retirement in 1985 to Lakeway, Texas. Her husband Tom passed away unexpectedly in 1996. She continued life surrounded by all her friends in the Lakeway area, and enjoyed visits by her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing individual, full of life and grace. Almost every person that she knew became her friend, she was so loved by all. In March 2011 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and began her battle. She was able to extend her life by 3 very good years. A “Great Light” was extinguished as she passed quietly into God’s kingdom in the late morning hours of February 25th 2014 in the company of a minister and family member holding her hand.
She will join her husband in the memorial garden at The Lakeway Church. A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm on March 8th @ the Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd, Lakeway, Texas 78734
