Shirley Jean Seley Harter

ESTILL – Mrs. Shirley Jean Harter, 72, of 294 Lawton Avenue in Estill, died Wednesday night at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Harter was born in Ocala, Florida, September 20, 1933, a daughter of the late Eugene and Linnie Hutchinson Seley. She was a former secretary with McNair and Lawton Law Firm, and retired as church secretary from Lawtonville Baptist Church in Estill, where she was a member.

Surviving are her husband, Furman T. Harter of the home; son, Ronald G. Harter and wife, Donna, of Florence; daughter, Doris H. Richburg and husband, Ronald, of Burke, Virginia; brothers, Eugene H. Seley of Fairfax; three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the home of Mrs. Harter, located at 294 Lawton Avenue in Estill, conducted by Redden Tuten and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton.

Friends may call at the home in Estill until the hour of services Saturday morning.
