Sarah Seely Simmons

Sarah Seely Simmons, 91, of Campbells Creek passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009, at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Sarah was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on January 10, 1918, and was a daughter of the late John and Williemay Morris Seely.

She was a member of Coal Fork United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, ladies circle, and United Methodist Women and served on various committees.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Palmer O. Carr and Edward O. Simmons; and son, Franklin McKeown.

She is survived by her son, Leonard McKeown of Texas, granddaughters, Sarah McKeown of Tampa, Fla., Pamela Garrett of Baycliff, Texas, Barbara McKeown of LaPorte, Texas, and Anita Henson of Pasadena, Texas; two great-grandsons; stepsons, Richard Carr of California and Franklin Simmons of Ripley; stepdaughter, Daphene Richard of Campbells Creek; and four stepgrandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, at Coal Fork United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Tutwiler officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be sent in Sarah’s name to Coal Fork United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1666, Charleston, WV 25326.

Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, is in charge of arrangements.
