RUTH D. JOHNSON

SCIO — Ruth D. Johnson, 81, of 4991 Snowball Hollow Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) in Jones Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Woodhull, N.Y., the daughter of Ray and Carrie Hubbard Seely.

She was a lifelong resident of the Scio area and had attended school in both the Vossburg District School and the Allentown Union School.

On April 10, 1938, in Wellsville, she was married to Willis D. Johnson, who died Oct. 20, 1990.

In 1979 she retired from the housekeeping department of Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville after 12 years of service.

She was a member of the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church in Scio.

Survivors include sons, David D. Johnson of Scio and Jack R. Johnson of Randolph, N.Y.; daughters, Dawn (Dale) Burgess of Wellsville and Cheryl (Jonathan) Elliott of Scio; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by daughters Carla Evans in 1999 and Darla Johnson in 1943; sisters, Lida Mae Seely, Pearl Louise Seely and Thelma M. Lapp; and brothers, Kenneth B. Seely and Duane E. Seely.

Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held there on Monday, at 1 p.m., Rev. Carl Kemp of the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church, officiating. Burial in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Ruth D. Johnson of Scio, who died Dec. 5, will take place at 1 p.m., Monday, in the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville, where friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday. Rev. Carl Kemp of the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church will officiate. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery, Scio.
