Rae E. (Seeley) Stearns
Rae E. Stearns, age 75 of Girard, Pa., died peacefully at home with her family and favorite canine companion, Sadie, beside her early Saturday morning, November 1, 2008. Rae was born in Erie, Pa on September 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Hugh and Pauline (Powers) Seeley. Rae worked for many places. She most recently worked at Laser Creations – ISI in Platea. Previously, she worked at Marx Toys in Girard. Rae was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed painting ceramics, cooking, taking care of her house and yard. She loved the outdoors and really enjoyed going to their family camp in Tidioute. Her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren playing softball and basketball in the Girard, Albion, and Conneaut Valley school areas and watching college sports. Besides her parents, Rae is preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Stearns, Sr. whom she married on May 21, 1954. He passed away on August 21, 1997. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Scalise. Rae is survived b
y two sons; Robert and his wife, Darlene of Girard, Pa.; and Dan and his wife, Dawn of Springboro, Pa. and a daughter, Debbie and her husband, Al Cox of Platea, Pa. She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Harrington of Girard, Pa. and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa. on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Life Celebration Service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Klingler of the West Springfield United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to either the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 W. 12th Street, Erie, Pa 16505 or to the Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Erie, Pa. 16501.
