Phyllis Lee Seely Graves

BURLINGTON, Wash. – Phyllis Lee Seely Graves, 78, went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2002.  She was surrounded with friends and family in Burlington, Washington.

Phyllis was born to Frank and Mamie Seely on October 27, 1923, in Grindstone, South Dakota.  She married Ray Graves in October of 1961.  After several moves they made their home in Hillsboro, Oregon, where Phyllis drove school bus for seventeen years and eventually retired.  She and Ray shared a love for traveling both by car and by motorcycle.  She had a great sense of humor and a love for life.  She loved her family and friends and she will be missed greatly.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Frankie; her husband Ray; two daughters, Nancy Lee and Kay Dean; and son Bruce.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Kim Hand of Oregon, and Kim’s three children; a stepdaughter, Judy Adkins of Day Creek, and Judy’s children and grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Velma and Don McNaughton of Spokane, WA, and Twyla and John Brink of Burlington, WA; a sister-in-law, Bernice Aarstad, also of Burlington; five nieces; and two nephews.

A service celebrating Phyllis’ life will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at Burlington Lutheran Church in Burlington, Washington.
