Phyllis Jane Seeley Stanton passed away while peacefully sleeping, from complications of pancreatic cancer, on March 8, 2007. She was 78 years old.
Born in 1928, she graduated from Canton High School in 1946, and then worked in Troy and Elmira, N.Y., before her marriage in 1950. She lovingly raised her three children and was involved in several social clubs until she returned to work, mainly at the Acme in Canton.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Dawne Stanton Nock of Port Townsend, Wash., son-in-law, Bill, and grandson, Will; her son, Stephen G. Stanton, of Paoli, Pa., her daughter-in-law Kim and granddaughter, Olesya; her son, Timothy F. Stanton of Casselbury, Fla., and her daughter-in-law Faith and grandson Rob. She is also survived by her sisters, Nelle Calkins of Troy and Marie Foust of Canton; many nieces and nephews; and cousin Jane McMurray of Canton and her family, and many additional relatives and friends. Mrs. Stanton was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Alice Seeley, and her brother Tom Seeley.
She will be missed by family and friends who will always remember her quick wit, easy smile and rolled eyes. A celebration of her life will take the form of a buffet luncheon from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, at the Windfall Church, Canton.
Please remember Phyllis with photos and stories — no flowers are necessary. Rather, please donate to Guthrie Hospice in her name with an acknowledgement to her daughter, Dawne, at Guthrie Hospice, RR 1, Box 154, Towanda, Pa. 18848.
Professional services have been entrusted to the Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton, Pa.
