Phoebe Jane Seely Felker – Passed away in Alameda, CA. on February 15th at the age of 84. She was born on June 24, 1918 in Iron River, Michigan; the daughter of M. Stuart and Louise Berwick Seely. She returned to Dallas as an infant attending schools there, then went to the University of Texas at Austin and Baylor Medical School in Dallas. She worked for several years at Freeman Memorial Clinic Medical Laboratory. She also worked as a medical laboratory technician at the University of California Hospital at Berkeley as well as the Lawrence Livermore Research Laboratory. In the Bay Area she was active in the First Congregational Church of Alameda, A.A.W., P.E.O., The Alameda Public Library Friends Alameda Historical Museum, the Food Bank, League of Women Voters, the Parkinson’s Support Group, the National Association of Medical Technicians and UC Berkeley Retired Employees. She was preceded in death by her husband John Felker, who died on January 28, 2003 at the age of 88. She is survived by John’s four children- Christina, John Jr., Richard and Frederick Felker as well as daughter-in-law Karen Felker and grandchildren Nicolette, Marlena and Ricky Felker of Alameda and Talent, Oregon. She also leaves behind her sister Dorothy Conlon of Fredericksburg, Texas; her niece Kathleen Lewis and husband John also of Fredericksburg; niece Kristina Lackey, her husband Ron and their children Joshua and Beth Lackey of Midlothian, Texas; sister Kathleen Neal of Fort Worth, Texas; nieces Lucinda Morgan and husband Fletcher of Merritt Island, Florida, Julie Walker, her husband Charles and their daughters Dorothy and Lily Walker of Austin Texas; nephews Mark Neal of Ft. Worth and Robert Neal, his wife Janine and their children Tristan and Travis of Ft. Collins, Colorado. A memorial service for Jane will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 1:30pm at the First Congregational Church of Alameda, 1912 Central Avenue, Alameda. Memorial gifts in the memories of Jane and John may be sent to First Congregational Church’s Kitchen or Social Hall Renovation Fund of Alameda.
