GRESHAM, Ore. | Norma DeVee (Seeley) Wright, a longtime resident of the Hazelton area, died in her sleep on Oct. 23, 2015 at her retirement home in Gresham, Oregon. She was 85.

Mrs. Wright was born March 14, 1930, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Lynn and Garnett Seeley, who farmed in the area. She was the eldest of five children, Ross Seeley and Dolly Hayes, both of Guthrie Center; Roberta Snyder, of Yale, Iowa, and the late Robert Seeley.

After graduating from high school, Mrs. Wright briefly taught school before marrying Albert LeRoy Wright on May 29, 1949, at Scranton, Iowa. The couple moved to central Oregon in the early 1950s, where Mr. Wright worked as a logger, and later moved to the Portland area, where Mr. Wright worked as a farmhand and as a welder. They lived in Portland from the mid-1950s until 1971, when they moved to their farm east of Hazelton.

Mr. Wright died on February 23, 1994, shortly after retiring from active farming. Mrs. Wright remained active in the community, and was an officer of the Silver & Gold Senior Center in Eden.

Mrs. Wright is survived by three children, Linda C. Mankey, of Troutdale. Oregon, Peggy A. Gilmore, of Sacramento; and James G. Wright, of Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A family memorial service and burial are planned in Iowa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Office on Aging at the College of Southern Idaho.
