PEKIN ~ Naomi R. Zuklic, 103, of Pekin, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Mardell Manor in Pekin.
Born September 7, 1914 in Pekin to Ralph and Nettie (Carpenter) Seelye, she married George W. Volk on December 8, 1932 in Green Valley. She later married John Zuklic on April 19, 1959 in Corinth, Mississippi. He died March 22, 2013 in Pekin. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one daughter, Marilyn Friess in 1996; one grandson, Terry Adams in 2014 and two brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Adams of Pekin; three grandchildren, Lori (Ghlee) Mulvaney of Washington, Valerie Adams Kreager of Pekin and Janie (Dennis) Mortland of Hanna City; seven great-grandchildren; ten great great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Drake of Scottsdale, Arizona and several nieces and nephews.
Naomi was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.
She had worked 19 years for Jones Brother’s Jewelers in Pekin, retiring in 1972.
Naomi had been a member of the Seelye Genealogical Society.
A loving and devoted grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and baking pies, gardening, in particular flowers and roses, her fruit trees, making quilts, especially for her grandchildren and travel. She was very proud of traveling to Europe three times.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Mardell Urish and the staff for their loving and caring environment at Mardell Manor.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
