Marilyn S. Martinez

ROY – Marilyn S. Martinez, 68, died of Cancer at her home Tuesday, March 2, 2004 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 26, 1935 in Castledale, Utah, the daughter of Frank and Orba Sanders Seeley.

She married Pete Martinez on September 10, 1951 in Ely, Nevada. Pete died October 17, 1988.

Marilyn was educated in Orangeville and Ogden. She attended Weber State College and Henagers.

She worked at Hill Air Force Base, Internal Revenue Service and at DDOU from 1963-Retired October 31, 1990. She had been a Warehouse worker General Foreman first female. (Branch Chief)

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Roy 30th Ward.

Marilyn was President of DDOU Management Assn; Member of Federal Managers Assn. She also received YWCA Women of the Year Award, 1984.

She enjoyed handicrafts, quilts, sewing, wedding flowers, and decorations. Won Home Arts Sweepstakes for a quilt at Weber Countys first fair, several ribbons at Heritage of the American West quilt show and State Fair.

Surviving are her five sons and their families:

James (Corrie) Martinez of Roy, and their sons: Doug, Jeff, and Jared.

Jerry (Lora) Martinez of Roy, and their daughter, Jennifer.

Kelly Martinez of Roy, and his children, Jessica, Candice, Caprice, and Nigel.

Craig (Lisa) Martinez of Syracuse, and their children, Michelle, and Jon.

Steve Martinez of Roy, and his children, Chrystal, Sydnee, and Philip. And also ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Beth (Norman) Sevy of Ogden, Leah (Bob) Neilsen of Roy.

Frank (Dorothy) Seeley of New Castle Washington.

Larry Dean (Linda) Seeley of Sammamish, Washington and a Very Special Sister-in-law Joyce Martinez of Kingston, Washington. Her Best Friends Bill and JoDene Kapp of South Ogden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Garth Seeley and two infant sons Richard and Douglas Martinez.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Odyssey Health Care for the loving care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 3 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West. Friends may call on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
