Jolena Jean Tabing Alfred
Alfred, Jolena Jean (Tabing) 47, died February 18, 2016, as a result of her health. She went peacefully surrounded by her family. Jolena was born in Wichita, KS on July 27, 1968, to Juvia J. (Tabing) Borden and Daniel L. Seely. She lived with mother and her grandparents, Alphus and Dorothy Tabing, on S. Vine St. for the first year of her life. Jolena attended many elementary schools in Wichita and finished at Pleasant Valley Jr. High and Heights High School. She graduated in 1986. Jolena married Steven C. Alfred on May 6, 1995, at Martinson Avenue Christian Church in Wichita, KS. Jolena spent her working career at Cox Communications working as a dispatcher; a job she loved. Jolena loved reading, music, singing, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Jolena was preceded in death by her brother, Jason Borden. Jolena is survived by her parents, Jerry and Juvia Borden and Daniel and Tiasha Seely; husband, Steven; daughter, Jacquelynn (Jerhahn) Davis-Henagan and their children, Zayanna, Zamaary, Zayden, Izraya, Cyreone and Cyrone; son, Jaaron Alfred; sisters, Wanda (Randy Williams) Kaup, Sheila Borden, Anne-Jenell (Jared) Williams, Melissa (Larry) Elliott, Tabitha (Brian Mitchell) West; brothers, Clifford (Pamela) Borden, Jacob Seely and Christopher (Nealy) Borden. Jolena’s aunts were very special to her, June (Bob) Atnes-Burgan, Julie (Thomas) Nesmith and Sharon (Joe) Ward. She is also survived by special cousins, Melani Stroud, Donald and Roger Atnes. Jolena rarely met a stranger and her heart held a host of other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at Word of Life Church, 1653 S. Martinson Ave, Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Kansas Dialysis Association (KDA), 909 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS.
