Mrs. Joanna Seeley Kightlinger died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Berdina Dempsey in Greeley, Col., on Thursday, July 6. She was a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Seeley, pioneer residents of Venango county, and was born on January 15, 1851, so was aged 82 years, 5 months and 21 days. She was the last of her own family.

On July 4, 1870, the deceased was united in marriage with Robert Kightlinger and to this union were born two children, Dorcey O. Kightlinger of Diamond, and Mrs. Berdina Dempsey of Greeley, Col. She also leaves ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The body, accompanied by the daughter and a grand-daughter, arrived in Titusville, Monday, July 10. The casket was taken to the C.H. McKinley funeral home at Chapmanville, and later to the home of the son, D.O. Kightlinger, where funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m., with a large attendance of relatives, neighbors and friends. There were many beautiful floral tributes to attest the high esteem in which Mrs. Kightlinger was held.

Rev. C.A. Wescott, pastor of Diamond U.B. church, officiated. He read two hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Meet Me There.” The interment was made in Diamond cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers: Curtin Bradley, Elmer G. Kaster, William Shadle, Claude Mallory, Thomas Thompson and Adrian C. Foust.

Robert Kightlinger, the husband, was found dead in his field where he was stricken while working, on December 16, 1916. He was found by his grandson, Lloyd O. Kightlinger.
