Janice Marie Gillespie
Indianapolis – Janice (Jan) Gillespie, 62, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Born to the late Raymond and Mary Seeley in Columbus, Indiana. Jan graduated from Columbus High School.
Jan committed close to 30 years of service at Vectren Energy before retiring. She then worked at American Senior Communities before moving on to volunteer work. Jan became active in several volunteer activities including work at her church’s school and mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters. She also became actively engaged with Indy Surviveoars the only breast cancer dragon boat team in Indiana. Jan found strength and support through the team and created many lasting friendships. Jan had a heart for God and was a light for all who met her, she will forever be missed.
Jan is survived by her loving husband, Todd Gillespie; children, Brent Chandler and Meghan Gillespie; and brothers, David Seeley and Rick Seeley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, and Indy Surviveoars, (PO Box 502984, Indianapolis 46250) in honor of Jan Gillespie.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Rd, Indianapolis, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm. Memorial services will be held at St. Peters Lutheran Church – 719 5th St., Columbus, IN, November 1 at 11am.
