Irene Phyllis (Seely) Mallen

Longtime Lake Oswego resident Irene Phyllis (Seely) Mallen died Jan. 13, 2008. She was 79.

Mrs. Mallen was born Dec. 17, 1929, to Nettie and Roy Seely in Farger Lake, Wash. She grew up in Farger Lake and graduated from Battle Ground High School, Battle Ground, Wash.

She moved to Portland and worked as a secretary until she married John ‘Jack’ Mallen in Portland in 1949. The couple built their home in Lake Oswego in 1954 and settled down to raise family.

Mrs. Mallen was an active member of United Methodist Church. She loved gardening.

Survivors include her daughters Pamela Signer, Kathleen Mallen, Jennifer Mallen, all of Portland; son Joe Mallen of Oregon City; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Lake Oswego.
