Helen Virginia (Seely) Bounds, 95, of Sanger, slipped into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Born on November 27, 1922 in Stony, Texas, she was the middle child of George Arthur and Virginia Pearl (Hardeman) Seely along with her brother Arthur Jerome “Romie” Seely, Sr. and sister Carolyn Joy (Seely) Ready.

Helen was raised in the Justin and Roanoke area and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior while attending church in Roanoke. The Seely family moved to Sanger in 1932 and became members of the First Baptist Church in 1933. She attended school in Sanger and was a member of the graduating Class of 1939, and attended NTSC for 2 years.

On November 27, 1941, Helen married Williard William Bounds in Madill, Oklahoma. They made their home in Sanger where they raised their son and were married for 57 years. She worked with Willard in Bounds Paint Co for over 20 years, and was also Textbook Manager for North Texas State University.

Helen was active in the church as well as the community. She served on various organizations such as PTA President, the Sanger Library Board, the First Baptist Church Building Committee, and Wednesday Study Club where she recently received a plaque for 70 years of service. As a member of the Sanger Historical Society, she played a part in the writing of the Book on Sanger, Texas. She served actively on the Board of Trustees for the Sanger Cemetery Association and was a Past President for several of those years. She resigned from the Board in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard, her brother and sister. Her memory will be cherished by her son, Billy Art Bounds and wife Cindy of Sanger, three grandchildren David Bounds and wife Kelly of Sanger, Jennie Flaa and husband John of Sanger, and Jim Last and wife Sarah of Denton and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held prior to the funeral on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Sanger with funeral services starting at 2:00pm. Dr. E. L. McNeal and Grant Bowles will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cullen Bounds, Caroline Bounds, Jake Lewis, Parker Last, Jaxson Last, Jim Last and John Flaa.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Sanger Library, The Sanger Historical Society or the First Baptist Church Library
