Born near Jamestown NY, she was the daughter of Mr.& Mrs. William Seeley. She was possibly the oldest resident of the county and a member of one of Reynoldsvilles’ pioneer families, she was 94 years of age. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George W. Stokes in Reynoldsville. She was married to the late Orton S. Smith on Christmas day in 1859 and in 1861 took up residence in Reynoldsville. She had been blind for the last 50 years. She was a member of the M.E. Church of Reynoldsville. She leaves two daughters: Mrs. George Stokes and Mrs. William Bell, both of Reynoldsville; two brothers: Loren L. & Charles Seely, both of Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
