Darlene M. Baker (nee Seeley), 72, of Deerfield Township, passed away peacefully at South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center, in Vineland, on Tuesday morning July 28, 2009. She had been a patient at the Bishop McCarthy Residence, in Vineland, for the last four and a half years.

The wife of R. Paul Baker, she was born in North Camden and was the daughter of the late Edgar W. and Mabel Estella “Stella” (nee Taylor) Seeley. Mrs. Baker was a resident of Greenwich for 30 years and also lived in Upper Deerfield Township on Birdsall Drive for two years.

She held several different positions during her working career. For many years she was a school bus driver in Greenwich and later worked at Dutch Neck Village in the restaurant. Before her retirement, Mrs. Baker was the attendance officer at Cumberland Regional High School, and her last position was as a cashier in the school’s cafeteria.

An active member of the Greenwich Baptist Church, she was a member of the Women’s Guild at the church and also belonged to the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Gregory P. Baker and his wife, Susan, of Deerfield Township, Scott D. Baker, at home, and Glenn E. Baker and his wife, Trisha A. of Wahoo, Nebraska; four grandsons, Brandon S. Baker, Timothy P. Baker, Cody T. Baker and Brent G. Baker; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baker was predeceased by a brother, William E. Seeley; and a sister, Mary E. Marsh.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Greenwich Baptist Church, Ye Greate Street, in Greenwich, on Saturday morning Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor Frederick Pangburn of the Bethel Baptist Church in Upper Deerfield Township will officiate.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and also Saturday morning at the Greenwich Baptist Church from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
