Paw Paw Passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Carol was born January 20, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Arthur and Almyra Seelye and had lived the majority of her life in the Paw Paw area. She was a lifelong dairy farmer and very involved in 4-H where she served as a leader. She volunteered at the Van Buren County fair for many years as well as serving as a poll worker. She worked at The Discovery Shop in Kalamazoo for the past 17 years. Carol loved collecting antiques and turquoise Indian jewelry. Reading and quilting were also favored past times. She was a very passionate U of M fan and a dear fan of Tom Brady and the Patriots. Carol was also a long time member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Gobles. Surviving are her three children, Brenda (William) Archambault of Houston TX, William Jr. (Deby) Rhodes of North Manchester, IN, Alice (Doug) Burleson of Bloomingdale; seven grandchildren, Eric and Amy Archambault, Daniel (Holly) and Matthew (Tosha) Rhodes, Katie (Craig) Klett, Wyatt (Heather) and Travis Burleson; a great granddaughter Audrey Klett; two brothers Roger (Linda) Seelye of Marcellus, Richard (Betty) Seelye of Hersey, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband William H. Rhodes Sr, whom she married November 29, 1946 and passed away July 1, 1995; a brother Barney Seelye and a sister Aris Richmond. The family will meet friends on Wednesday from 5 – 8 PM at the GOBLES CHAPEL, D. L. Miller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 AM at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Gobles. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
