Betty Leona Pridemore

MIDLAND, PA

Betty Leona Pridemore, who resided on Smith Ferry Road in Midland, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Beaver. She had been lovingly cared for by her family throughout her brief illness.

She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, a daughter of the late Clowes and Leona Whittaker Seeley. After attending high school in Maine, she had worked in various jobs there before meeting her husband, Kenneth N. “Ken” Pridemore, who was stationed at the Air Force base nearby. The couple was married in Canada and returned to the East Liverpool area, Ken’s hometown, in 1955.

A longtime member of the Ohioville Free Methodist Church, Betty was a devoted homemaker who cherished her roles as mother and grandmother. Her family all knew her as an enthusiastic Steelers fan, and she looked forward to the holidays all year long. Her home was full of the Christmas “spirit”, not to mention various decorated trees and gifts for all her family.

She leaves behind her children: Regina Woloszyn and her husband, Mike, of Ohioville; Donna Smith and her husband, James, of Balch Springs, TX; Tracy Soles and her husband, Scott, of Beaver, PA; Carl Delbert Pridemore and his wife, Sharon, of Tampa, FL; and Roger Pridemore and his wife, JoAnn, of Orange Park, FL. There are sixteen grandchildren, twelve greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Betty was preceded in death by three sons: Jeffrey L. Pridemore in 1992, Kenneth N. Pridemore, Jr. in 2003, and Raymond Pelkey, who was killed in Vietnam. Also preceding her was a brother, Orin Seeley, and her husband, Ken.

Friends may visit at the DAWSON FUNERAL HOME, 215 West Fifth St., East Liverpool, Ohio, on Thursday, where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert of the church will officiate at funeral services to be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
