Betty I. Seeley Houting
(Rockford) Mrs. Betty I. Seeley Houting, age 82, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008. After graduating from Rockford High School in 1944, Betty attended Grand Rapids Junior College and Blodgett School of Nursing. She was a very friendly person who was very meticulous about her appearance and was always appropriately dressed. Betty liked to keep herself busy and was involved in the Women’s Club of Cedar Springs, the United Methodist Women at Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church, and the Glenn Hill Ladies Auxiliary Unit #287. She is survived by her children, Dan and Sue Houting of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Carrie and Bob Bannister of Dallas, TX, Katherine and Bob Bloom of San Diego, CA, Jonathan and Alison Houting of Sacramento, CA, and Jason and Stephanie Houting of Sacramento, CA; great grandchildren, Emily Bannister, Amanda Bannister, and Branden Bloom; brother, Larry (Nancy) Seeley; sister, Delores (Jack) Brouard; sister-in-law, Mrs. Marlys Seeley; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Richard “Dick” Houting in May of 1992, a daughter, Danielle, and her brothers, Max and Paul preceded her in death. The service for Mrs. Houting will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church, 10300 Myers Lake, Rockford with Dr. Michael Conklin officiating. Interment in Courtland Twp. Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Memorial Fund at Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
