Beth Eleen Seely Sevy

December 26, 1930 ~ February 29, 2016

Our sweet wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Beth, peacefully returned home to her Father in Heaven for a glorious reunion with her son, David; parents; and her dear cousin, Afton Daniels.

She was born in Castledale, Utah to Frank and Orba Sanders Seely where she learned the value of hard work and love for the gospel. She was the eldest of five children, and soon learned the art of signing for the deaf, as her parents were both deaf. She became their ears!

She met her sweetheart Norman while living in Ogden through her good friend, Bonnie Rae, Norm’s sister. He convinced her that he was the “one”, and they were married May 14, 1948, and later sealed in the Logan Temple for all time and eternity. They enjoyed a life filled with love, ups and downs, and many adventures which Norm was the center!

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings including Young Womens and Relief Society presidencies, Gospel Essentials teacher and Relief Society teacher. She also served in the Ogden Deaf Branch for many years and in the Ogden Temple as an interpreter.

After retiring from the IRS as a tax examiner, she and Norm served in the Bacolod Philippines Mission where she learned to embrace heat, humidity and the occasional gecko!

She enjoyed designing and sewing quilts for her family and hand-crafting porcelain dolls for therapy. She and Norm quite enjoyed digging for antique bottles in the deserts of Utah and Nevada and old ghost towns of the west. She worked tirelessly researching genealogy for her ancestry and posterity, and in her spare time enjoyed playing Bridge and visiting with family and friends.

See’s Chocolates of Ogden will also miss her continued patronage. She loved dark chocolates to savor and share with special friends!

Beth is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Norman; and children: Pamela Ray, Clinton, Barry (Sharon) Sevy, Roy, Christine (Jon) Vaughn, Arizona, and Brent (Vickie) Sevy, Virginia; her sister, Leah Nielsen, Roy; and her brothers: Frank (Dorothy) Seeley and Larry Dean (Linda) Seeley, both of Washington. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, David; her parents; her brother, Garth; sister, Marilyn Martinez; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Beth will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the ward the many kindnesses and bounteous meals that have been brought into the home, for loving Hospice caretakers and the many family members who came to comfort and to be of service.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Clinton West Stake Center at 11 a.m. Address: 2141 W. 1800 N., Clinton. Friends may visit family prior to the services from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Following the service, Beth will be interred at the Morgan South Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Myers Roy Mortuary.
