Bertha O. (Seeley) Ketcham

LACEY – Bertha O. (Seeley) Ketcham, 95, formerly of 10995 Schreiner Road, died Sunday in Springhill Manor, Battle Creek, after a short illness.

She was born in Climas and moved to Battle Creek with her family at age 10.  She moved to Lacey in 1918.  She and her husband owned Ketcham’s General Grocery in Lacey 25 years, until 1953 when they sold the business and retired.  She was a graduate of the former Graham School of Shorthand in Battle Creek and worked for the Battle Creek Evening News classified department briefly until 1916.  She was a member of the Barry County Farm Bureau.

Her husband, Otis Ketcham, died in 1953.

Surviving are daughters, Betty Ketcham of East Lansing and Ruth Mudge of Lacey; three grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Farley-Estes Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may go to Country Chapel United Methodist Church or Dowling Kitchen Fund.
