Bernice Seely Brittingham, age 91, a resident of the Seaford Center, formerly of Laurel, DE, passed away on April 29, 2016.

Bernice was born in Milford, DE on July 29, 1924, a daughter of the late George and Florence Seely.

Bernice retired from the Laurel Public Library where she worked for over 30 years, 15 of that working in the Children’s Department. She truly loved working with the children, sharing many programs she planned for them to create different crafts for themselves and to share with their family. She also drove a school bus for Granville Lowe for many years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel. Bernice also had a love of sea shells, collecting them for many years any time she took a trip near the ocean.

Bernice is survived by her children, Fred Brittingham and wife Karen of Queen Creek, AZ, Cindy Eskridge and husband Keith of Mardela Springs, MD., Alberta “Lee” Brittingham of Wilmington, DE. Grandchildren, Scott (Vanessa) Brittingham, Kelley (Beau) Eckert and Jason Eskridge. Eight great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband Albert Brittingham, a daughter, Phyllis Kuk, and all of her siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West St. Laurel, DE on May 7, 2016 at 2:00pm, a visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ruth Tull will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
