BARBARA (SEELEY) MOORE, (MADSON) Retired Special Ledger Secretary 4/16/24 – 3/22/08 Barbara S. Moore, 83, of Calimesa passed away peacefully while watching television in her apartment at the Palms of Loma Linda. Barbara was the daughter of William and Lois Seeley of San Bernardino. She played the French horn in the San Bernardino High School band and graduated in 1942. She idolized her brother, Gordon who was a pilot for the USAF. To follow in her brothers footsteps she took flying lessons. While on a training mission, Gordon’s plane crashed due to a mechanical malfunction. Barbara quit flying but retained a sense of adventure. She married Melvin Madson in August 1942. During World War II she worked at Norton AFB as a secretary. She moved to Maine to follow Mel, who was a Navy submarine radio operator. After the war they returned to San Bernardino to begin their lives. They had three children and bought an orange grove (the ranch) in Bryn Mawr. She stayed home to raise her children until 1959 when she began her career with the So. Calif. Gas Co. She was the first woman to be employed at the Gas Co. to have small children. She retired after 25 years of service in 1984. Although she had a full time job she was a busy homemaker, always baking, cleaning, and canning fruit and vegetables from the garden. In 1972 she married the love of her life, James Moore, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending time with friends and family. They were members of the Elks Lodge in Yucaipa. Jim passed away in 1994. Barb continued to travel throughout the world and spend time with those she loved. Survivors include: sons, Michael Madson of Sausalito, CA, Brad Madson (Melanie) of Festus, MO., and daughter, Chris Marlett (Randy) of Crestline, CA; and two grandchildren, Bobby Malone and Niki Malone.
