Floyd & Joan Hodges ROAN MOUNTAIN, TN— Floyd Ray Hodges, 74, and Barbara Joan Sealy Hodges, 68, of Roan Mountain, TN died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 following an automobile accident. Floyd Hodges was born in Banner Elk, NC to Lester and Rosa Hodge. He is survived by his mother, Rosa Hodges; two siblings; Lester Hodges, Jr., and his wife, Becky and Margaret Tate and her husband, Herbert of Hendersonville. Joan Hodges was born in Columbus, GA to Jack and Lola Sealy. She is survived by her two siblings; Helen Kiser of Raleigh, NC and Judy Jordan, and her husband, David of Columbus, GA. Together they are survived by their six children and spouses; Steve and Connie Hodges of Calhoun, GA, Kendall and Gene Williford of Phenix City, AL, Judy Daggett of Nashville, TN, Kenneth and Joanetta Hodges of Hendersonville, NC, Kathy Murray of Palm Coast, FL and Donna and Rick Fender of Burnsville, NC; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Floyd and Joan had been married for 30 years and had been residents of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, since 1978. They were members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Joan was a homemaker and member of the Roan Mountain Garden Club. She was very active in community service, where she made a profound difference in the lives of all she touched. Floyd was a well-respected Building Contractor for 50 years and assisted with many mission and community building projects, including the Roan Mt. SDA Church, where he was an elder. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. A memorial service will be held to celebrate the lives of Floyd and Joan Hodges from 6:00-8:00PM on Friday, November 24th at Roan Mountain SDA Church, 265 Heaton Creek Road, Roan Mt., Tennessee. A funeral was held at 3:00pm on Saturday at Fletcher SDA church. The family received friends from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, prior to the service at the church. Burial followed at Shepherd Memorial Park. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
