William J. Thresher

SHELTON, CT – William J. Thresher, Jr, age 91, of Shelton, entered into rest unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.
William was born in Little Falls, NY, on April 1, 1927, son of the late William James and L. Mildred (Handy) Thresher and has been a Shelton resident since 1965. He graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. William was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1945 to 1946. He was employed at Remington Arms Co., Inc., from 1951 to 1985, where he held many positions before being promoted to Assistant Treasurer. He was a Mason for 63 years in Ilion, NY, holding the positions of Master of the Lodge, High Priest of the Royal Arch Mason, Assistant Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge NY Masons and was Patron of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the American Legion, the Shriners, the Elks Club, Odd Fellows and the Seeley Genealogical Society, where he served as Treasurer. He was also an avid baseball fan. His preferred team was the NY Mets. He especially loved to spend time with family and friends at his camp on Canadarago Lake.
