Retired educator succumbs at 85

Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens for Lloyd Glenn Seely Sr., 85, who died Thursday in Klamath Falls.

Mr. Seely was born May 20, 1906, in North Bend. He graduated from Oregon Normal School (now Western Oregon State College) in 1930 and 1935 earned a bachelor of arts degree from Oregon State University.

He entered the teaching field and came to Klamath County in the early 1930s as principal at the old Indian school in Beatty. Subsequently he was principal at Bly and Henley schools and during the 1940s worked as a health sanitarian for Klamath County. He later returned to the teaching profession as an administrative supervisor and retired in 1968.

During his younger years, Mr. Seely was a 4-H leader and was active in Boy Scouts and as a junior rifle instructor for the National Rifle Association.

At the time of his death he was active in Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Senior Citizens Council and Retired Educators Association.

His wife, Irene E. Seely, preceded him in death, Jan. 5.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd G. Seely, Jr., and granddaughters, Chantel Y. and Nichell Y. Seely, all of Lakeview.
