Dean L. White

July 14, 1930 – July 13, 2006

WHITE, DEAN L., 75 – of Pomona, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006. He was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on July 14, 1930 and lived in Greensboro, North Carolina for most of his life, before moving to Pomona. He served his country honorably in the US Navy from 1948 to 1953. Dean retired from the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller. Golfing was his passion. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Margaret. Dean is survived by his wife, Marilyn Knopp of Pomona; his sons, Dean White, Jr. and his wife, Ivonne and John White of Greensboro, North Carolina; his daughters, Cillay Ponce and her husband, Tom of Charlotte, North Carolina; Mary Smith; Susan White and Patricia Montgomery and her husband, Todd, all of Greensboro, North Carolina; his stepson, Joseph Knopp and his wife, Susan of Dorothy; his stepdaughter, Cheri Nakao and her husband, Newton of Mays Landing; his grandchildren, Josie and Julie White; Jennifer and Kristen Ponce; Rebecca Smith; Emily and Maggie Montgomery and Lourdes and Salvador White, all of North Carolina; Sean Nakao and his wife, Diana of Honolulu, Hawaii; Robert Nakao and his wife, Rebecca of Mays Landing; Jennifer Nakao of Mays Landing; Joseph Knopp Ill of Kansas City, Missouri; Jacquelyn Knopp of Dorothy and Michael Knopp of Dorothy and his two great granddaughters. Also missing him is his beloved dog, Tomo. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City (609) 965-0357, where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ocean City Humane Society, One Shelter Road, Ocean City, New Jersey 08226 or American Cancer Society, 626 N.
