Ruel Hazard Seely

MT. PLEASANT, Sanpete County – Ruel Hazard Seely, 73, of Mt. Pleasant, died Feb. 17, 1972 at his home of natural causes.

Born Dec. 12, 1890, in Mt. Pleasant to Joseph and Adela Evelyn Olson Seely. Married Anna Eula Jorgensen on Oct. 18, 1922 in the Manti Temple. Retired farmer, sheep and stockman; served as first bishop of Mt. Pleasant Third Ward 1951 – 56; served on North Sanpete Stake High Council; North Ward Sunday School superintendent; fulfilled LDS mission to Eastern States, 1919-21; served a Mt. Pleasant city councilman, 6 ½ years; director of Pleasant Creek Irrigation Co.

Survivors: widow; sons, daughters: Joseph Boyd, James Dale, both Pleasant Grove; Mrs. J.H. (Helen) Harvey, American Fork; Morris Ruel, Vista, Calif.; Mrs. N. Ross (Leone) Smith, Preston, Idaho; Clair Leon, Las Vegas, Nev.; 26 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers; sisters; Justus O., Ray, Mrs. Elva Guymon, all Mt. Pleasant; Theron, Preston, Idaho.

Funeral Monday 1 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Second Ward chapel. Friends call at Jacobs Mortuary in Mt. Pleasant Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Burial Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
