SCHROON LAKE — Richard N. Seeley Sr., 73, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., after an extended illness.

Richard was born Sept. 6 1936, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of the late Clarence and Genavive VanOrnam Seeley.

Richard was predeceased by his son, Anthony on April 27 2004.

Dick worked for Harold Jones Construction for many years, he worked at International Paper Co. in Ticonderoga, Arborio Construction Co. on I-87, and was the owner of Seeley Construction for 25 years, when his illness forced his retirement. Dick was very proud of the fact that his company did a lot of the building work during the construction of Gore Mountain Ski Center.

Dick was an active member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game club for many years, he was a member of the North Albany American Legion Post No. 1610, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans chapter New York No. 158.

Dick served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1958.

He was a former member of the Schroon Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Jr. and Clarence of Malta, N.Y.; his brothers, Thomas Seeley of Schroon Lake and Charles Seeley of Glens Falls; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his friends and family.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday evening at 5 p.m., at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 Route 9, Schroon Lake. Cremation will follow with interment at the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m.

The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
