Lee A. Seely
Mt. Pleasant Services were held April 4, for Lee A. Seely, 71, who died April 1, 1988, at Sanpete Valley Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, to Lawrence A. and Minerva Christensen Seely. He married Verda Mae Stewart, Sept. 10, 1936, in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was a construction worker, carpenter, cement finisher, and aircraft mechanic for Consolidated Aircraft, at San Diego, Calif.
He simultaneously served in the National Guard, Battery D 222 Field Artillery, from May 17, 1934 to Sept. 28, 1935, and the Civilian Conservation Corps, from Oct. 11, 1934, to March 27, 1936.
He was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Second LDS Ward, serving as Sunday School counselor, High Priest secretary. Seventies group president, and at the present time, home teacher.
He attended schools in Mt. Pleasant and Utah State University.
Little children were drawn to him for his loving personality and he was affectionately called, “The Candy Man.” His hobbies were collecting rocks, lapidary work, fishing, cooking, and gardening. He took pride in teaching his children, grandchildren and others how to fish.
He made many beautiful pieces of hand polished rock jewelry for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, children, Mrs. Verl (Donna) Jensen, both Mt. Pleasant; Jerold L. Seely, Tooele; Mrs. Douglas (Darlene) O’Leary, Magna; Lanny R. Seely, Sandy; Larry L. Seely, Fairview; 24 grandchildren; two brothers, William Grant Seely, Mt. Pleasant; Clair M. Seely, Farmington. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Jay, and Merrill.
Burial was in Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
