Ernest J. Seely

ERNEST J SEELY, 80, of 371 Beach Grove Road, Berwick, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Dec. 13, 1921, in Berwick R.R. 1, he was a son of the late Howard and Jessie Cope Seely.

A staff Sergeant in the Army During World War II, Mr. Seely worked as a mechanic on bombers in the 357th Fighter Squadron the 8th Airborne Division in Europe.

He was formerly an independent truck driver for Kaplan Trucking in Ohio, retiring in 1985.

Two brothers died previously: Maurice Seely and Walter Frank Seely.

He is survived by two brothers: George Seely, Berwick, R.R.1; and Clark Seely, Shickshinny; and seven sisters; Elizabeth Davis, Berwick; Mrs. Furman (Irene) Engle, Rochester, NY; Jessie Hosler, Berwick; Mrs. Fred (Cora) Hummel, rural Berwick; Mrs. Elwood (Jeanetter) Heller, Berwick; and Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Peters and Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Barnes, both of rural Berwick.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick, with the Rev. Bernard F. Engelhardt, retired Lutheran pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.
