Services for Andrew M. Seely, 83, of Temple will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Temple.

Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Seely died Tuesday Dec. 11, in Temple.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1926, to Marcus and Mary Seely in Teague. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. On Sept. 11, 1948, he married Fredonia Cox who he had met while attending Louisiana Tech where he played football. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana Tech and had a career in engineering. He retired from the Texas Dept. of Transportation after 33 years. He worked on many projects including the bridges on Loop 360 in Austin and the Rainbow Bridge and Veterans Memorial Bridge in Port Arthur.

He was a life long member of the optimist Club and worked at the clubs Christmas tree lot. He also designed and built the Pony-Colt baseball park in Vidor, Texas. He will be remembered as the best Santa Claus the Highway department ever had because of his red nose and cheeks.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Andrew Seely and wife Billy Carol (B.C.); two daughters, Mary Sue Blackburn and husband Kern and Debbie Porterfield; six grandchildren; Melinda Bradford and husband Dave, Phillip Blackburn, Bethann Blackburn, Justin Seely and wife Tara, Russell Portfield and wife Christy and Sarah Markell and husband Mike and four great-grand sons.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
