Seeley-Curtis Vows Recited In New York City Ceremony

The Episcopal church of the Ascension on Fifth avenue in New York City was the setting recently for the wedding of Miss Sarah Willette Curtis of Winona and Frederic Roswell Seeley III of Jackson.  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Avery Curtis, of Winona, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Roswell Seeley Jr. of Jackson.

Gold altar vases held arrangements of white tulips and snapdragons, and white tapers glowed in gold candelabra.

Dr. James W. Kennedy performed the ceremony, and music was presented by Vernon DeTarse, organist.

The bride was given in marriage by James F. Rose of New York City, formerly of Winona.  Her waltz-length wedding dress of shell pink fashioned along princess lines featured a lace bodice, designed with low scalloped neckline and brief sleeves, and a full skirt of organza over taffeta posed over Natchez hoops.  A halo of pink velvet and pearls held her veil of illusion, and she carried a bouquet of white gardenias.  Her necklace of pearls was a gift from the bridegroom.

Miss Patricia Seeley of New York City, sister of the bridegroom was maid of honor.  Her dress of pink satinized cotton was embroidered above the empire waistline and had a full skirt.  Her bouquet was of pink carnations.

Edward J. Jordon Jr. of Worcester, Mass., served as best man, and Chris Grillis of Jackson was usher.

Miss Seeley entertained with a reception for her brother and his bride and close friends, among whom were the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Burton, of Philadelphia, Pa.

For their wedding trip, the bride wore a mint green silk suit and a corsage of gardenias.  They will live at 11 W. Ninth street in New York City.  The bridegroom will continue postgraduate work at Columbia University.
