Sarah Seeley Tillis, 97, a sweet and lovely lady, passed into the arms of Jesus on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, after a three-month illness. Service: Funeral and burial will be Saturday, Feb. 27, in Elizabeth City, N.C. Memorials: If desired, please make a donation to a local SPCA or a charity of choice.
Born Sarah Elizabeth on Aug. 14, 1918, in Elizabeth City, N.C., she was the only daughter of Harry Miller Seeley and Susan Lane Seeley. She lived most of her life in Elizabeth City and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church there and the Ladies Bible Class. She retired after 25 years from the Albemarle Hospital as a receptionist at the age of 87 years young: a job and her co-workers, she dearly loved. After moving to Fort Worth in 2005 to be near her daughter and family, Sarah lived at Hill Villa, a retirement community where she made many new friends and enjoyed a full life. She will be remembered by her many cherished friends and family for her endearing smile, her kind and thoughtful words, her wonderful Southern manners, her appreciation of proper English usage and her impeccable style. She loved wearing pretty clothes and shoes and shopping for them!
Survivors: She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Susan O’Neil and her husband, Walter; grandson, Kelly O’Neil and his wife, Holly; granddaughter, Laurie Brants and her husband, Clay; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Aidan O’Neil and CeCe and Maggie Brants; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
