Community Saddened by Death Of Pioneer William H. Seely

HIGHLAND – Friends in the community were saddened Wednesday by the news of the death of William Howard Seely, native son and lifelong resident of Highland. Death came at 3:30 a.m. at the family home on Cole Ave. after many months of critical illness and invalidism.

Seely was born March 6, 1884, the son of David Randolph Seely and Mary Tidwell Seely early pioneers of this valley. Oct. 16, 1907 William Seely was married to Minnie Lee Jones who survives him. He was for many years a rancher in the Highland area but for the past several years had been retired. He was a member of Highland Lodge, Knights of Pythias and Highland Temple, Pythian Sisters.

In addition to the widow, Seely is survived by a brother, Victor Seely of San Bernardino and three nieces, Elaine Seely Gibbons (Mrs. Kenneth) of Highland, Barbara Seely Eitel (Mrs. John) of San Diego, and Kathryn Fisher Scott (Mrs. Howard) of Arlington, and a nephew James Randolph Wells of Colton.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 from the Stephens and Bobbitt Chapel in San Bernardino with the Rev. John Parker, pastor of the Highland Congregational church, officiating.

WILLIAM H. SEELY

William Howard Seely, 70, of 6962 Cole Ave., lifelong resident of Highland, died Wednesday at his home.

A retired orange grower, he was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Pythian Sisters of Highland.

Survivors include his widow, Minnie Lee, Highland, and a brother, Victor, San Bernardino.

Services to be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Stephens & Bobbitt Chapel with the Rev. W. John Parker officiating.

Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

WILLIAM SEELY

Services for William Seely were conducted Friday in the Stephens & Bobbitt Chapel with the Rev. John W. Parker officiating.

Organist Mary K. Parrott accompanied Anna Lee Graham who sang “In The Garden” and “Going Home.”

Pallbearers were L. Walter Sewell, Cecil O. Phelps, Robert O. Rodgers, Virgil A. Smith, Roby R. Hagy and R.L. Came.

Interment was in Mount View Cemetery.
