Pauline Cilley, 88

SCARBOROUGH — Pauline Cilley, 88, widow of the late Bernard E. Cilley and longtime resident of Portland, passed away February 2, 2013, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Pauline was born in 1924 in Edmunds, Maine, a daughter to Harry and Lucy (Kennedy) Phinney.

She was educated in Portland and South Portland Schools.

Pauline met and later married Bernard E. Cilley in 1947 and they were married for 65 years.
Pauline worked at the Peacock Canning Company in Portland, Gov. Baxter’s School for the Deaf in Falmouth and also along with her husband at Sealtest Ice Cream in production.

She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Portland, the ‘Y’ wives of YWCA in Portland and a member of the private club known as the ‘Club Girls’ of which there were only 12 members who met monthly for over 50 years.
She loved to play Bingo and travel with her husband Bernard. She loved seeing all of her great grandchildren and never forgot any of their birthdays, all 24 of them.

Predeceased by her husband Bernard E. Cilley, brothers Douglas D. Phinney and Charles M. Phinney; son Russell H. Gagnon ; and grandson Jason R. Gagnon; also her sister-in-law Joanne Pauline CilleyWinslow and her husband Charles, and brother-in-law Herbert Cilley. She is survived by her brother Herbert H. Phinney, his wife Mary; and their four daughters. She is also survived by her children George W. Gagnon Jr. and his wife Frances, Wayne E. Cilley and his wife Debra, Ponda Stanhope and her husband David, a stepson John Doughty and his wife Darlene; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews; also survived by her sister-in-laws Camilla Cilley, Bertha Lapan, Winona Cilley, Jane Sampson and her husband Paul, and her brother-in-law Philip Cilley and his wife Isabelle.

She will be greatly missed by her lifetime friend Mary Lyons, her bingo buddy Ruth Johnson and all her fellow bingo friends, all of whom were her extended family.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by 12 p.m. service, on Thursday, February 7 at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 US Route One, Scarborough. Interment to follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
