Ora M. Seeley

Stratford, New York – Ora M. Seeley, 89, of Stratford, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, February 20, 2018 at Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls, New York.

She was born on June 17, 1928 in the Town of Oppenheim, New York and was the daughter of the late, Milo and Beulah (Stock) Snell.  Ora attended a one-room school called Youker’s Bush School in Oppenheim.

On February 11, 1950, Ora was united in marriage to Gordon A. Seeley.  The couple shared a union of 60 years until Mr. Seeley passed away on August 1, 2010.

Mrs. Seeley was formerly employed by Little Falls Hospital as a Food Supervisor in the Dietary Department where she retired from.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville, New York and also formerly attended Lassellsville Free Methodist Church in Lassellsville, New York.  Mrs. Seeley was also a member of the Stratford Senior Citizens and a 20 year member of the Girl Scouts where she was nicknamed a “Scout Mother”, as well as holding positions as Association Chairman and a Cookie Chairman.  In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking.  Mrs. Seeley will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Seeley is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathy Rumrill and her husband, Walt of Oppenheim, NY; loving grandchildren, Jennifer Douglas and her husband, Gerald Douglas, Jr. of Fort Plain, NY, Bill Rumrill and his companion, Shannon Bell of Stratford, NY; cherished great grandchildren, Caden Douglas and Mercedes Rumrill; two sisters, Elsie Elbert of Saratoga, NY and Beatrice Leavenworth of Florida; two brothers, Otis Snell and his wife, Lucille of Zephyrhills, FL and Grant Snell and his wife, Sharon of Clocksville, NY; several brothers and sisters; a sister in law and brother in law, Joyce Douglas and her husband, Howard of Little Falls, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a beloved son, William Seeley in 1970, a cherished infant great grandson, Trenton Rumrill on February 14, 2015, two brothers and two sisters.

In keeping with the wishes of Mrs. Seeley, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time.  The family will receive relatives and friends at a memorial graveside service at Dibble Tuttle Cemetery in the Town of Salisbury, New York in the spring, where she will be laid to rest with her husband and son.  The family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.
