Carlsbad Nellie Elizabeth Cilley entered heaven on April 11, 2016, two months shy of her 93rd birthday. She was known by all as truly sweet and loving, having never said a unkind word. Descended from the Borden and Kelly families, she still resided on family land received from the Mexican Land Grant that makes up most of Carlsbad. She and her beloved late husband Emmett graduated from Oceanside-Carlsbad High School together in 1940 and married in 1941. Nellie attended the First Christian Church of Oceanside both as a small child and in her later years. She was a member of the Palomar Model A Club for 40 years, and enjoyed traveling many miles, both by Model A and RV.Nellie is survived, and greatly missed, by her daughter Dianne and son-in-law John Frazee; grandchildren Lisa Frazee, David Frazee and his wife Karyn; great-grandchildren Alyssa Morgosh, Andy Morgosh and his wife Kelsey, and Fernando, Jose, and Diego Frazee; sisters Edie Bartlett and Georgia Owens, sister-in-law Dawn Connor, as well as dozens of nephews, nieces, cousins, “adopted” kids and grandkids, and dear friends.A celebration of Nellie’s life will be held on May 7 at 1:00 at 2410 Appian Road, Carlsbad.
