STURGIS- Committal services for Michael James Seeley, 45, Chandler, Ariz., will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Chaplain James Forbes officiating and military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran Honor Guard.
He died Sept. 25, from cancer at Trevilla Nursing Home in Golden Valley, Minn.
He was born Aug. 14, 1946, to Donald and Lavina (Nelson) Seeley. His mother, a registered nurse, opened Sturgis Community Hospital (now Sturgis Community Health Care Center), Sept. 1, 1953, as administrator.
After his graduation he entered college, then the Army on Aug. 25, 1969. Upon returning from Germany he was discharged May 24, 1971. He then managed the Granite Falls, Minn., country club while operating his own Nook & Cranny Café.
While living in Chandler as manager of a resort restaurant, he became ill with cancer. He was transferred to a Minneapolis hospital and later to Tevilla Nursin Home in Golden Valley, Minn.
Survivors in this area are two aunts, Maxine Bovee of Belle Fourche and Alice Tennis Sturgis.
