Missing Rancher Is Found Dead In Monoxide Suicide
Hanford (Kings Co.) Jan. 29 – Henry Seeley, 31, Hanford rancher, was found dead in an automobile parked beside the Santa Fe railroad tracks one and a half miles northwest of Hanford at 10 o’clock this morning.
The officers say Seeley apparently took his own life by inhaling carbon monoxide gas. A piece of hose was attached to the exhaust pipe of the automobile and run through the back window into the car. All windows were closed tight and Seeley was in the front seat with his head slumped against the window.
Seeley was reported missing yesterday and relatives and friends had been waiting for him. The body was found by Jack Planell, a friend of the Seeley family.
The authorities learned Seeley had been despondent for some time. They were told he closed out his bank account yesterday. They said Seeley attempted suicide about a year ago when he took an overdose of a sleeping powder.
Seeley was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Seeley and a graduate of the Hanford schools.
The death was investigated by Sheriff O.H. Clyde, Deputy District Attorney Robert Rossen and Coroner Walter Wilson. The body was taken to a Hanford undertaking establishment.

M.O. Seeley Rites Set For Tomorrow
Funeral services for Melvin O. Seeley, 31, who took his own life, Tuesday night, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock in the chapel of the Peoples Undertaking Parlors. Rev. Harry Tuttle will officiate and interment will follow in the Hanford cemetery.
He is survived by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. George Seeley of Hanford; one sister, Mrs. Gail Johnston of Fresno; his grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Downs of Hanford; and an aunt, Mrs. C.M. Edwards of Long Beach.
