Mark D. Seeley

Mark D. Seeley, 59, of Parsons, passed away Tuesday morning while camping near Oswego. His death was unexpected.

He was born August 13, 1957, in Parsons, to Walter E. Seeley, Jr. and Betty (Dessenberger) Seeley.
He grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1975. He attended Wichita State University and Pittsburg State University, from where he earned a bachelor of science degree.

Mark was employed by the Job Service Center and the State of Kansas both in Parsons and in Topeka.
His last position for many years was in the student admissions office at Pittsburg State University, from where he recently retired. His many interests included camping, canoeing, attending car races, golfing, going to Grand Lake and spending time with friends. He was a mechanical genius.

He especially loved his nieces, Lindsay and Sarah and his beloved dogs Missy and Short Stuff. He was baptized in the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Betty and Gilmer Nellis, of Coffeyville; brothers, Dr. Michael Seeley and wife Gloria, of Ft. Worth, TX and Robert Ong and wife Monica, of Parsons; uncle and aunt, Don and Donna Seeley, of Parsons; nieces, Sarah Ong and companion Jamal Allen, of Kansas City, MO and Lindsay Jones and husband Eric, of Pittsburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Seeley, Jr. and step-mother Betty Seeley.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday.
