Margaret Seeley, 81, was called to her heavenly home on Easter Sunday, April 1st after a long battle with Parkinson’s. She was born on April 19th, 1936 to Valborg (Levorson) and Gilbert Radichel and grew up in various farming communities in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. While attending nursing school in Red Wing, MN, she met and married Raymond Seeley, her husband of 59 years. Margaret worked as a licensed practical nurse at St. John’s Hospital until the birth of her children gave her a new calling.
After a 7-year residence in Colorado, Margaret and her family returned to the Midwest, settling in the Eau Claire area near her parents. In addition to raising a family, she helped her mother care for her father after his stroke and volunteered with her church in visiting shut-in members. Margaret also worked with her husband to build a home business, handling much of the day-to-day operation herself while he worked full-time away from home. She took on the role of caregiver for her mother, moving her into their home until such time as a skilled care facility became necessary.
Margaret enjoyed quiet pursuits—playing solitaire and bridge, reading, working on puzzles, gardening, watching travel and nature documentaries and old movies, going for walks with Raymond and visiting with her family and close friends. She prided herself on a well-tended home, always keeping it organized and tidy. Margaret also volunteered time at Messiah Lutheran Church in Eau Claire—visiting shut-in members, participating in its Esther Circle and helping assemble the weekly service bulletin.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Dean; a sister, Lydia Wylie. She is survived by her husband, Ray; children Linda (Jeff) Feirn, Lois (Darin) Peterson, James (Kristen) Seeley and their children Aben, Maya and Levi, and Aaron (Jennifer) Seeley; also surviving her are siblings Becky (Dale) Markgraf, Verona (Ed) Lentz, Phil (Jackie) Radichel, Fred (Naomi) Radichel and Frank (Ann) Radichel.
Services will be held on Friday, April 6th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2015 N. Hastings Way, Eau Claire, WI 54703. Visitation will be at 1:00pm, with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00pm. Dessert and coffee will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to Immanuel Lutheran College, 501 Grover Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701 or Messiah Lutheran Church, 2015 N. Hastings Way, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
